The community of St. Anne, Illinois is mourning the death of William R. Provost, whose passing on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, has left his family, friends, classmates, and loved ones heartbroken. Remembered as a dedicated university student, loving son, and kind-hearted young man, William was just 21 years old.
William was born on September 1, 2004, in Kankakee, Illinois, to Clayton P. and Leanne A. (Grise) Provost. He was a 2022 graduate of Bishop McNamara Catholic School and was completing his senior year at the University of Missouri. Outside of his studies, he enjoyed fishing trips, walking the beach in search of sand dollars, playing video games, spending time with his family, and caring for his beloved dog, Mags.
He is survived by his parents, Clayton and Leanne Provost; his brother, Wesley Provost; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and many extended family members who will cherish his memory. William was preceded in death by his grandparents, Rich and Tina Grise, Wesley Provost, and his aunt, Amy Provost.
William Provost will be remembered for his gentle spirit, love for his family, and the joy he brought to those around him. Private family services will be held, with funeral arrangements entrusted to Clancy-Gernon-Hertz Funeral Home in Kankakee. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved him.
